Two Leadership Trust Models

Employee Engagement
October 13, 2024

As part of my studies towards my Ph.D., I have sharpened my interest to include employee engagement in the workplace.  Trust is the foundation of almost any relationship and it certainly plays a strong role in how employees engage with each other as well as with the entire organization.  Two models of the essential characteristics of trust are listed below.  I am interested to hear in the comments which strikes home for each person.  One valuable part of this article address how to produce or develop an even greater amount of trust. Blanchard, ABCD Trust Model (2010)

  1. Ability – demonstrating confidence.
  2. Believability – acting with integrity.
  3. Connectedness – demonstrating care.
  4. Dependability – keeping your promise.

Vodicka, 4 C’s Model, (2006)

  1. Consistency
  2. Compassion
  3. Communication
  4. Competence

Trust-Producing Leadership Behaviours. Thompson, (2018)

  1. Trusting in the collective wisdom of staff.
  2. Encouraging diversity of perspectives
  3. Willingness to debate issues where opinions differ
  4. Being a good listener
  5. Promoting collective responsibility
  6. Responding positively to staff members when there is disagreement
